You love hiking, nature and you enjoy pleasant trails with every now and then a challenge, but you don't so much like to carry along a big backpack with a sleeping pad and food for every day you are hiking. Don't worry, I'll help you out!
With each hike I'll mention below, you can surround yourself with nature for a couple of hours without being gone for the whole day or even longer. 'What if I do wanna hike a whole day?', you ask? Don't go just yet, most of these hikes you can combine with each other. They are all part of the Mullerthal Trail, so you can make them as long and as short as you like.

Lake Echternach
Without any issues you can hike completely around the lake. It's about 4km long en it takes about an hour to complete. All this depends however on how you choose to spend your time here. There are plenty of stops along the way to take a break or to explore.
Roman Villa (Not open during the winter months - but you can already see a lot from above)
Several nice fishing spots
Youth house where you can also find a map of the area and where you can spend the night, go to the toilet, eat, as well as wall climb, rent mountain bikes.... This place also has an info point, where you can get maps of the area to take with you....
Playground for kids, for dogs, ...
Lake Side Restaurant: either come early or make a reservation in time: it's very good here, very cozy and in summer you can eat on the terrace next to the lake.
There are multiple routes you can hike, you can find more information at the info point.
FYI: you can spend the night at the youth center or park your camper right next to it.
Not so far away from this spot, you can visit Echternach.
Hiking between rocks and stunning viewpoints.
Just a 10 minute car ride from Lake Echternach, you can find parking Hohllay. You can park here or along the road, or if your up for it, you can just hike to this spot. At Hohllay you can hike a part of the Mullerthal trail. It's possible you can combine the previous hike with this one, but the way we did it was with the car to the parking spot. The hike is taking the exact same way back (this is why I think you can combine it with the other). There are plenty of signs indicating the route and you can make it as long as you want. To see the viewpoint (seen above) we walked a total of 9 km. You can also find it here: Komoot.
If you're interested, there are plenty of signs indicating other ways to hike as well.
In this area you can:
climb the stairs between rocks;
find a rock labyrinth,
find an amphitheater (or so they say);
see/hear many small and bigger streams of water;
spot many stunning panoramic viewpoints.
Walk the knight's path around the castles of Beaufort
To be able to see these castles (in this post), it's probably best to look them up online, as they were not open at the time of our visit, so check the opening hours and take a look at these images. If the castles are still closed off while you're here, you can visit the village around the castles. There is a park you can take a hike around and you can tune into nature as you find your way back to the village.
Around the castles there are 3 possible spots to park your car, and at these parkings, you can find the information boards with all the possible hikes on there. The options are really diverse as you can choose between a cute old village or deep dive into nature along rocks and rivers. These hikes can be from 5 km up to 40 km long.
IMPORTANT: When you choose your hike, beware of the multiple altitudes you do. Not every hike is easy just because it's shorter.

Waterfalls, springs and stunning trails
Mullerthal Trail 2: or at least a part of it. You can start your hike at this parking, or at this 'parking' a little further down the road, this last spot is much rather 'let me stop for 2 minutes'. At the first parking, you can also find a bus stop. Public transport is free for anyone and very well done.
Around these parkings, there are a few highlights:
Schiessentümpel waterfall
Stairway Mëllerdall
Kallektruffquell
We did not do a long walk here, basically just up to this point (see photo) and we did maybe 2 km. Our feet were tired... hopefully next time we can hike here more, because it's stunning.
